Alright, so I wanted to get myself a Pakistani driving license, and I figured I’d share my experience with you all. It wasn’t as complicated as I thought it would be, but there were a few steps involved. I’m not a tech guy or anything, so if I can do it, anyone can.
Getting Started
First things first, I had to get a learner’s permit. I heard that you need to hold onto this for about 42 days before you can even think about applying for the real deal. So, I went ahead and got my learner’s permit. Nothing fancy, just followed the usual process at the local office.
Booking an Appointment
Next, I went online to book an appointment for the driving test. They have this whole online reservation thing, which I thought was pretty neat. I filled out the forms and all that jazz, and got myself a slot.

Fee Payments
Now, here’s the part where you gotta pay up. There are a couple of fees involved. First, there was this 250 Rs fee voucher for the driving test itself. I paid that, got my receipt, and kept it safe. Then, once you pass your tests, there’s another 1000 Rs fee.
The Tests
Okay, so the tests. There are two parts to this: a traffic signs test and the actual driving test.
- Traffic Signs Test: This wasn’t too bad. It’s like a quiz with 24 questions about road safety and traffic signs. You just gotta study a bit, and you’ll be fine. I just went through some online resources and practiced a bit. Passed it on my first try!
- Driving Test: This is where you actually get behind the wheel and show them what you’ve got. I practiced with my buddy’s car for a few days to get comfortable. The test itself was pretty straightforward. Just followed the instructor’s directions, did all the maneuvers, and tried to stay calm. And guess what? I passed this one too!
Getting the License
After I passed both tests, I paid that 1000 Rs fee I mentioned earlier. Then, it was just a matter of waiting for them to process everything. The site mentioned about getting digital documents quickly, some within 15 minutes, but I did not use that function. A few weeks later, I got a notification that my license was ready. I went down to the office, picked it up, and bam! I was officially a licensed driver in Pakistan.
Honestly, the whole process wasn’t that bad. Just a few fees, a couple of tests, and some waiting around. If you’re thinking about getting your license in Pakistan, don’t sweat it. Just follow the steps, do a little studying, and you’ll be good to go. Drive safe, everyone!
