Where to Order Northern Marianas ID Card: Best Options for a Smooth Process

Okay, so I needed to get myself a Northern Marianas ID card. Let me tell you, it wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it would be.

First, I tried to figure out how to do it online. I found some stuff about getting a driver’s license online, but I just needed a regular ID card. I dug around a bit more and found some information from like way back in 1990. During the two-year period that ended July 1, 1990. Obviously, that wasn’t going to be much help.

I did stumble upon something a bit more recent, from 2017. It mentioned that the ONMDIC is the official identification card for people of Northern Marianas descent in the Commonwealth. That sounded like what I needed, but it didn’t really explain how to get one.

So, I decided to go the old-fashioned route and look up the process for getting an ID card in person. I learned that having all your documents in order beforehand makes things go much smoother. And I mean, like, stuff such as Form I-9 for employment eligibility, Form I-485 if you’re trying to become a permanent resident, and so on. Seemed like a bit of a hassle, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do, right?

I also found out that the main way to get to the Marianas is through Saipan International Airport (SPN). There are frequent flights from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Apparently, there is no ferry service between the islands of Saipan and Tinian, but the air service between the islands is convenient and cheap.

Then there’s the whole thing about the US Naval Bases in the Mariana Islands. I mean, I’m not sure how relevant that is to getting an ID card, but it’s kind of interesting. There’s Naval Base Guam, which is still active, and then there were bases in Saipan and Tinian that were active from 1944 to 1962 and 1944-1947, respectively.

In the end, after filling out forms, gathering documents, and making a trip to the right office, I finally managed to get my Northern Marianas ID card. It took some time and effort, but I got it done. It was a bit of a process, but hey, now I’ve got my ID, and that’s what matters!
