Alright, let’s talk about this Bosnia and Herzegovina ID card thing, you know, the kind you need to get around and do stuff. Don’t you be thinkin’ this is gonna be some fancy talk, I’m just gonna tell it to ya straight, like it is.
What’s this ID card all about anyway?
Well, it’s like this here, this ID card, they call it “Lična karta” over there, it’s like your golden ticket. It’s what they use in that Bosnia and Herzegovina place to say, “Yep, this here’s me, I’m a real person livin’ in this here country.” Everybody gotta have one, or else you ain’t nobody. Can’t do nothin’ without it. It’s got your picture, your name, and all that important stuff. They say it’s gotta be all fancy and meet them high-up international and EU standards. Sounds important, I guess. They didn’t have nothin’ like that back in my day, we just knew everybody in the village, that was good enough.
Who gives out these cards?
Now, that’s where it gets a little complicated. It ain’t just one place handing ‘em out. Up there in that Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it’s them cantonal ministries of the interior fellas who take care of it. You know, the government folks. Sounds like a lot of offices and big buildings to me. Probably a whole lotta paperwork, too. I tell ya, just thinking about it makes my head spin.
- They issue the cards.
- They cancel ‘em if you don’t need ‘em no more.
- And if you lose yours, like my grandson loses everything, they gotta give you a new one.
Can anybody get one?
Well, mostly it’s for their own folks, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They say now, after all that war business they had over there, everybody’s gonna have the same kind of card. Makes sense, I guess. Easier for everybody to know who’s who. But then I hear tell that even if you ain’t from there, if you got one of them Foreigner ID cards, well then you can still do some things, like buyin’ up land and such. Never heard of such a thing, foreigners buying up land. Times sure have changed.
Why do you need an ID card?
Well, like I said before, it’s for doin’ stuff. You wanna go get a job? Gotta show your ID. You wanna open a bank account? Gotta show your ID. You wanna buy some land and settle down? You gonna have to prove who you are and get yourself an ID card. You can’t even get yourself a driver’s license to drive around without it. It’s like your key to everything. Without it, you’re just a nobody, wanderin’ around lost. It’s like your proof of existing, I guess. If you ain’t got that card, well then, you ain’t nobody important in that country.
What’s all this talk about driver’s licenses?
Oh yeah, them driver’s licenses. Seems like they’re important too, specially if you wanna drive around. If you’re just visitin’, you might be able to use your own license for a bit, like if you’re a tourist or somethin’. But if you’re gonna live there, you gotta get one of theirs. And guess what? You probably need that ID card first! It’s all connected, see? One thing leads to another. It’s like a big ol’ puzzle, and that ID card is the first piece. You can’t start drivin’ until you prove you’re you.
So, is this ID card a big deal?
You bet your bottom dollar it is! It’s more than just a piece of plastic. It’s like your official stamp of bein’ somebody in that Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lets you live your life, get a job, own stuff, drive around, and who knows what else. Without it, you’re stuck. So, if you’re ever thinkin’ about goin’ over there, you best figure out how to get yourself one of them cards. Otherwise, you ain’t gonna get too far. It’s just the way it is, and there ain’t nothin’ you can do about it. So, remember, if you gonna buy land, get a job, or even just drive a car in that Bosnia and Herzegovina, you best be gettin’ yourself a Bosnia and Herzegovina ID card. It’s just common sense, somethin’ even this old woman can understand.
Buying property with a Foreigner ID Card
Now, I heard tell that if you are a foreigner, and you got yourself a Foreigner ID card, you can go ahead and buy some property over there. That’s a new thing, I reckon. Back in my day, foreigners couldn’t just come and buy up land. But times change, I guess. So, if you’re lookin’ to settle down or maybe just invest in somethin’, and you got that Foreigner ID card, it sounds like you’re good to go. Just make sure you got all your papers in order, mind you. Them government folks like things done proper.
Well, that’s about all I know about these here Bosnia and Herzegovina ID cards. It ain’t rocket science, but it’s important stuff if you’re gonna be livin’ or doin’ business over there. Just remember, get that card, and you’ll be alright. Don’t, and you’re gonna have a whole heap of trouble. Now, you go on and do what you gotta do. I’ve told you all I know, and that’s the truth, so help me God.
