Alright, so you wanna get yourself a Costa Rican driver’s license, huh? Well, listen up, ’cause I’m gonna tell you how it is, no fancy talk, just straight to the point. First off, you gotta be a resident or a citizen, ain’t no way around that. If you’re just visitin’, forget about it. You ain’t gettin’ no license here.

Now, if you’ve been livin’ here for more than three months, and you got that residency card, then you’re in luck. Just a quick check-up, and you’re good to go. Pay another 4,000 CRC for that, and then you’re off to the BCR, that’s the bank. They’ll take your picture, and you’ll pay some more fees. Seems like everyone wants a piece of your money, but that’s just how it is.
