Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya ’bout gettin’ one of them drivin’ thingies, ya know, a license, in that Guinea-Bissau place. Don’t rightly know where it is, but folks wanna drive there, so here we go.
First off, gotta get yerself a learner’s permit. That’s like a baby license, lets ya practice drivin’ without gettin’ hauled off by the sheriff. You gotta pass a test for that, a thinkin’ test, not a drivin’ one yet. They call it a “theory test” but that’s just fancy talk for knowin’ the rules of the road.
- Get that permit first. Important, ya hear?
- Then, find someone to teach ya drivin’. Or maybe just go out to the field, like we used to do back home. But maybe not in Guinea-Bissau, they might have rules ’bout that.
Now, after you’ve been drivin’ around a bit, and you ain’t crashed into too many things, you gotta take another test. This one’s the real deal, the drivin’ test. You gotta show ’em you can drive without killin’ yourself or somebody else. If you pass, you get the license.

Heard tell it don’t take too long to get that license once you pass all the tests and give ’em all the papers they want. In some big city place they call Kampala, they say it takes just an hour! But out in the sticks, maybe a day or two. Ain’t too bad, I reckon.
Now, if you’re just visitin’ Guinea-Bissau, and you already got a license from somewhere else, you might be okay. They say they take most licenses from other countries, long as they ain’t expired or nothin’. But sometimes, you might need somethin’ called an International Drivin’ Permit, or IDP for short. It’s like a fancy paper that says your license is good in other places.
You can get one of them IDPs pretty easy, they say. Just gotta apply and pay some money, I guess. And they can even give it to ya right away, on your phone or somethin’. Handy, if you’re in a hurry. And it works in a whole bunch of countries, not just Guinea-Bissau.
But remember, drivin’ ain’t no joke. You gotta follow the rules, even if you don’t understand ’em all. And you gotta be careful, ’cause there’s other folks on the road, and they might not be as good at drivin’ as you are. Or maybe they’re even worse!
So, that’s about it. Get the permit, learn to drive, pass the tests, get the license. Or get that IDP thing if you’re just visitin’. And always be careful, ya hear? Don’t want ya gettin’ hurt or hurtin’ nobody else.
And one more thing, they say you gotta have all the right papers and stuff to drive legal-like in Guinea-Bissau. Don’t rightly know what all them papers are, but make sure you got ’em, or you might get in trouble with the law. And nobody wants that.
So, there ya have it. Everything I know about gettin’ a drivin’ license in Guinea-Bissau, even though I ain’t never been there myself. Just remember what I told ya, and you’ll be fine. Now go on and drive safe!
And remember this is for Guinea-Bissau not Guinea, them are two different places ya hear! Don’t be getting them mixed up now.
