Okay, so I recently had to get a visa to visit Singapore, and let me tell you, doing it online was way easier than I expected. I figured I’d share my experience to maybe help out anyone else in the same boat.
First off, I started by figuring out what kind of visa I even needed. Turns out, Singapore has a bunch of different types depending on why you’re going. I was just going as a tourist, so I needed a tourist visa. Pretty straightforward, right?
Next, I found out that you can apply for the visa online, which is a godsend. No having to go to an embassy or deal with physical paperwork. They call it an “e-Visa,” which is short for Electronic Visa. It makes sense, you know, we are living in a digital era, and I always prefer to use a digital method to handle things.

So, here’s the thing, you need someone in Singapore to act as your local contact. This person can be a friend, family member, or even a hotel if they offer that service. I was lucky enough to have a friend living there, so I asked them to help me out. They had to use this thing called the “SAVE system” on the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website. I just gave them all my details like passport info, travel dates, and all that jazz. Also, I remember I have taken a photo of my passport before, so I just send the file to her, it was quite convenient.
My friend then went to the ICA website, logged into the SAVE system, and filled out the application for me. It was pretty easy, they just had to follow the instructions on the site.
- Logged into the SAVE system using their details.
- Filled out the visa application form with my information.
- Uploaded a copy of my passport and a recent photo of me.
- Paid the visa application fee.
- Submitted the application.
Here’s a breakdown of what my friend did on the ICA website:
After that, it was just a waiting game. It took a few days, but eventually, my friend got an email saying my visa was approved! They sent over the e-Visa, which I printed out, and that was it. I was ready to go to Singapore! Honestly, the whole process was much smoother and less stressful than I thought it would be. If you’re planning a trip to Singapore, I definitely recommend applying for your visa online. Just make sure you have a local contact who can help you out with the application. Good luck, and I wish you all could have a great trip!
