Okay, so, I wanted to get a Cook Islands ID card. Here’s how I got about it.
First, I went to the place where you usually apply for these things. You know, the government office. It was a bit of a mess, long lines and all that. I stood there for like, an hour, just to get to the counter. When I finally made it, the person there, they gave me this huge stack of forms. Seriously, it felt like a small book.
I filled them out as best I could, right there in the office. There were all kinds of questions, like name, address, date of birth, you know, the usual stuff. Some questions got me tripping a bit, but I did my best to answer them all as honestly as I can. Some sections were super confusing, but I just winged it. Hoping for the best, really.

- Get the application form.
- Fill out the form completely.
- Gather supporting documents.
- Submit the application and pay the fee.
Then, I had to get a bunch of other documents together. They needed a copy of my birth certificate, which, thankfully, I had a copy of. I also had to show them proof that I actually live in the Cook Islands. So, I brought my water bill as proof. They needed a recent one though. Also, I needed to get a recent passport photo taken, so I had to go to a local photo shop and get those done. More waiting, of course.
After getting all my documents in order, I went back to the government office. This time, the line was even longer, if you can believe it. I waited for almost two hours this time. When I finally got to the front, I handed everything in – the forms, the documents, the photos. The person at the counter looked everything over, then stamped a few things. I also had to pay a fee for the ID card, which was a little pricey, but what can you do, right?
They gave me a receipt and told me it would take a few weeks for the ID card to be ready. They said they’d call me when it was done. So now, I’m just waiting. It’s been a bit of a hassle, but hopefully, I’ll have my Cook Islands ID card soon! Fingers crossed.
What’s Next?
Just gotta wait for that call. Will update you guys when I get it!
