So, I needed to get myself a United Arab Emirates ID card. It’s like, mandatory for everyone living there, whether you’re a local, from the GCC, or an expat like me. I went online to figure out how to do this, ’cause who wants to deal with lines and paperwork in person, right?
First Steps
First things first, I had to fill out the Emirates ID application form. I found it on some government website. It wasn’t too bad, just the usual stuff – name, address, you know the drill.
The Online Process
Then, I learned you could actually apply for a new Emirates ID card online through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security – ICP. Sounds fancy, huh? But it’s actually pretty straightforward. They have this whole online portal thing set up.

- Filled out the application online. Typed in all my info, made sure everything was correct. Double-checked, triple-checked, ’cause you don’t wanna mess this up.
- Submitted it. Hit the button and hoped for the best.
- Waited. This part’s always the hardest, right? Just sitting there, refreshing your email every five minutes.
The Result
And guess what? It worked! They sent me this thing where I could check the status of my application. Super convenient. Eventually, I got the good news – my Emirates ID card was ready. They even let me download it as a PDF. How cool is that? I printed it out and that’s it.
The whole thing was way easier than I thought it would be. I mean, you hear stories about government stuff being a huge pain, but this was actually pretty smooth. If you need to get a UAE ID, I definitely recommend doing it online. Saved me so much time and hassle. So you may find out more if you are interested in this.
