Okay, so I’ve recently gone through the process of getting a New Caledonia passport. It wasn’t as straightforward as I thought, so I figured I’d share my experience to help anyone else going through the same thing. It was quite an adventure, let me tell you!
Check the Requirements
First things first, I had to check the entry requirements for New Caledonia. I learned that I needed a passport that’s valid for at least six months beyond my planned stay. I also read somewhere that if you’re a Philippine passport holder like me, you need a visa for both tourism and business. I found out that this is the only type of visa available to get into New Caledonia. Better to be safe than sorry, so I made sure my passport was up to date.
Gather Necessary Documents
Next up, I gathered all the documents I needed. Obviously, my current passport was the main thing. But it turns out, getting a new passport involves a bit more than just showing your old one.

Schedule an Appointment
Once I had everything, I tried to schedule an appointment. I read online that passport appointments are free and should only be made through the official website. There are some warnings about not going through fixers, so I definitely wanted to avoid that. Booking the appointment was relatively painless. It’s all done online these days.
Submit Application
On the day of my appointment, I went to the DFA office, I brought my documents, and submitted my application. I also had my photo taken and paid the processing fee.
Wait for Processing
After submitting everything, it was just a waiting game. It took a few weeks, and it felt like forever, but my new passport finally arrived, good for 6 months, just like I wanted. This is usually the longest part of the process, so patience is key.
Claim New Passport
Finally, I went back to the DFA office and claimed my new passport. It was such a relief to finally have it in my hands!
So yeah, that’s my experience ordering a New Caledonia passport. Not too complicated, but it definitely requires some patience and making sure you have all the right documents. Hope this helps anyone who’s planning to go through the same process! Good luck!
