So, I gotta share this because it was a bit of a rollercoaster, getting an ID card in Fiji. First off, I went online to figure out what I needed. Found some info about needing a form and some numbers, you know, the usual stuff.
I filled out the form I found, which asked for the basics like my name, address, and some other details. Pretty standard, nothing too crazy.
Next, I had to get a photo taken. I went to a local shop, they do passport photos and stuff, to get this done. The guy there knew what was up, so it was quick and easy. I made sure to dress a bit nice, not too fancy, just to look presentable.

Then came the part where I had to go to the government office. I drove there early one morning, thinking I’d beat the rush. There were already a few people in line. I grabbed a number and waited for my turn.
When my number was called, I walked up to the counter. The lady there checked my form and photo. She also asked for some verification code, I had written it down, so I showed it to her. She typed some stuff into her computer and told me I needed to pay a fee.
I paid the fee, it wasn’t too much, and she gave me a receipt. She said the ID card would be ready in a few weeks and that I could pick it up or get it delivered. I opted to pick it up, felt safer that way.
- Waited for a few weeks.
- Got a call that my ID was ready.
- Drove back to the office.
- Showed my receipt.
- Received my ID card.
Finally, I got my ID card. It looked good, photo was decent. All in all, it was a bit of a process, but I managed to get it done. It feels good to have it, you know, makes things official.
