Alright, so, I needed to get myself a Guam driver’s license. First off, I found out that you can drive around Guam with a foreign license for about 30 days, but only if it’s in English. Mine wasn’t, so I knew I had to get this done sooner rather than later.
I went online to try and figure out the process. It seemed like I needed to hit up the DMV, which, honestly, is nobody’s favorite place, right? But, it’s gotta be done. The website was not super clear, but eventually I found that I need to make an appointment. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one thinking about getting a license that day, because all the appointment slots were booked! I had to pick another date further out than I wanted, but hey, what can you do?
The site also mentioned that these appointments could get bumped due to things like bad weather or whatever emergencies might pop up. I thought to myself, “Great, just another thing to worry about.” Anyway, I booked the appointment and waited. When the day came, I gathered all my documents. I had my old license, my social security card, and another ID, just like they asked. I made sure to get there early, ’cause you never know with these things.

- Head to the DMV: This was the first big step. You can’t get around it.
- Schedule an Appointment: You can’t just walk in, which is a bit of a pain. I learned that the hard way by trying to find an open slot!
- Gather Your Documents: I needed my foreign license, social security card, and another valid ID. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around.
- Wait for Your Appointment: This part was just boring. I just tried to keep busy.
- Go to the Appointment: Finally, the day came. I went in, presented my documents, and hoped for the best.
The whole process was a bit of a hassle, but I managed to jump through all the hoops. It wasn’t quick, and it definitely wasn’t fun, but I got my Guam driver’s license in the end. Now I can drive around without worrying about that 30-day limit. If you’re planning to stay in Guam for a while, make sure to get on this early. It takes longer than you might think!
