Okay, so I needed to get a visa for Nauru. What a headache, honestly. But I got through it, so I figured I’d share how I did it in case anyone else is planning a trip to this tiny island nation.
First off, I went online and started digging around for information. The Nauru government website was a good starting point. I found a section on their official site that talked all about visas, so I landed there, ready to get started.
Finding the Visa Application
I found out that you can either download the visa application form or get it directly from the immigration office in Nauru. Since I wasn’t in Nauru, downloading it seemed like the way to go. I eventually found a form that looked right and downloaded it.

Filling Out the Form
- Read Carefully: I made sure to read every instruction on the form. It’s all in English, which was convenient.
- Answer Truthfully: This is important! I answered every question honestly. No fudging the truth here, folks.
- Double-Check: Once I filled out the entire form, I went over it again to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Gathering Documents
Besides the form, they needed a few other things:
- Passport Copy: I made a clear scan of my passport’s details page. Good thing I had a scanner.
- Employer Letter: I had to get a letter from my work. It basically explained why I was going to Nauru. My boss was cool about it, thankfully.
Paying the Fee
Of course, there’s a fee. I had to pay the visa application fee, and the instructions on how to do that were on the website. It wasn’t too bad, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Submitting the Application
With everything filled out, documents gathered, and the fee paid, it was time to submit. The website said I could lodge the application through their immigration office. Since there are multiple ways to do that, I picked the one that seemed easiest, which was by email since I was doing everything else online anyway. I put everything together in an email, making sure I followed all the instructions in the form, double-checked that everything was attached, and hit send.
Waiting Game
Then came the waiting. It’s best to apply well in advance—like 90 days before your trip, just in case. I sent mine in about two months before my planned travel date, just to be safe.
Success!
After a bit of waiting, I got an email back. And guess what? Visa approved! I printed out the approval email, which I guess acts as the visa itself. Now I was all set to head to Nauru.
It was a bit of a process, but totally doable. Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully, give yourself plenty of time, and you should be good to go. It’s all worth it to experience a place like Nauru!
