Buy Indonesian ID Card Online: Where to Find Reliable Services

Man, let me tell you about this whole process I went through trying to get an Indonesian ID card online. It was a wild ride, I gotta say. So, I’m not from around here, but I’ve been living in Indonesia for a while now, and I finally decided it was time to get a proper ID, you know, make things official.

First thing I did was hit up the internet, naturally. I typed in something like “how to get an Indonesian ID card” and started digging. Found out that for us foreigners, this ID is called a KTP Asing, which is short for Kartu Tanda Penduduk Asing. Fancy, right? It’s basically the same as the local ID, the KTP, but for folks like me who aren’t Indonesian citizens but have a resident permit.

Now, getting this KTP Asing is a bit of a process. From what I gathered, you need to have a permanent residence permit first, which is called a KITAP. And you gotta be at least 17 or married to get this thing. I checked all those boxes, so I was good to go.

Then came the fun part – figuring out where to actually apply for this ID. Some websites mentioned the Civil Registry Service Office, also known as Disdukcapil, while others said to go to the local Ward Office, or Kantor Kelurahan. I decided to go with the local Ward Office, seemed like the easier option.

I gathered all my documents – my passport, my KITAP, some passport photos, the whole shebang. Showed up at the Ward Office, and let me tell you, the lines were no joke. But hey, I was determined.

• Filled out the application form: They gave me this form, and I had to fill in all sorts of details. Name, address, date of birth – you name it. The date of birth part was a bit tricky because for women they add 40 to the day or something like that, but I am a man.
• Submitted my documents: Handed over all my papers, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.
• Got my photo taken: They had this little setup where they took my picture. Had to make sure I looked presentable, you know?
• Waited: And then, the waiting game began. They told me it would take some time to process, so I just had to be patient.

Finally, after what felt like forever, I got a call saying my KTP Asing was ready! Went back to the office, picked it up, and man, did it feel good to have that card in my hand. It’s green, by the way, which I thought was pretty cool.
