So, I decided to get a visa for the Pitcairn Islands. Sounds cool, right? Let me tell you, it was a bit of an adventure.
First off, I started digging around to figure out how to even apply. I found out that there’s this non-refundable fee of NZ$150. Yeah, that stings a bit, but hey, it’s Pitcairn Islands!
Filling Out the Forms
Next, I grabbed the application form. It wasn’t too bad, just the usual stuff like name, passport details, and why I wanted to go. I filled it out carefully, making sure all my information was correct. Then I had to send it electronically. I found the email address, which is admin@*.

Sending the Application
I typed up a nice email, attached the form, and hit send. I made a note that I should get a response within two weeks, which seemed a long time to wait. I kept checking my inbox, hoping for that acknowledgment. It didn’t come immediately, so I had to be patient.
Waiting Game
- Day 1: Sent the application. Fingers crossed!
- Day 3: Still no reply. Starting to get a little anxious.
- Day 7: A week in, and nothing. I double-checked the email address to make sure I sent it to the right place.
- Day 10: Still waiting. I started to wonder if I should send a follow-up email.
- Day 14: Finally! I got an acknowledgment. What a relief!
What I Learned
Through this whole process, I learned a few things. First, if you’re going for less than 14 days and you arrive and leave on the same boat, you don’t even need a visa. Good to know for a quick trip! Also, I’m a British citizen, so apparently, I don’t need a tourist visa anyway. But this application was for a longer stay.
I also found out that the tourist visa is usually for a short stay. There are a lot of websites offering visa services, but honestly, going straight to the source seemed like the best bet.
So, that’s my story of applying for a Pitcairn Islands visa. It was a bit of a wait, but I finally got that acknowledgment. Now, I’m just waiting for the final approval. Wish me luck!
