Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Northern Mariana Islands driver’s license for a while now. It’s not exactly easy, you know? I started by doing some digging online, trying to find any info I could. I found some sites that talked about driver’s ed courses and some tool called the “Northern Mariana Driver’s Assistant”. Seemed like a good place to start, right?
I figured I’d need to take a driver’s ed course. I mean, that makes sense. I went through one of those online courses. It wasn’t too bad, just a bunch of modules and quizzes, the usual stuff. They had this whole thing about teaching you the rules of the road and all that. It wasn’t exactly rocket science, but I guess it’s important to know that stuff.
After I finished the course, I started looking into the actual process of getting the license. This “Driver’s Assistant” thing I found was supposed to help with the test, but honestly, it wasn’t that helpful. I felt it would be better to practice directly. I just googled “Northern Mariana Islands driver’s license practice test” and a bunch of stuff came up. They had these practice tests that were kind of like the real thing, I guess. I spent a few days just going through those, trying to memorize all the different road signs and rules.

Then came the hard part – figuring out what documents I needed. I read somewhere that you need a whole bunch of stuff to prove who you are and where you live. I spent a whole day just gathering all my documents, birth certificate, passport, utility bills, you name it. It was a real pain, to be honest.
Once I had all my documents, I finally went down to the DMV. I tried to schedule an appointment online, but I ended up just showing up. I heard from somewhere that the lines are always long, so I got there super early. And guess what? There was still a line! I ended up waiting for like three hours, which was a drag. I thought I might have to wait a long time, but I just kept my head down and waited my turn.
Finally, it was my turn! I went up to the counter, handed over all my documents, and took the written test. It wasn’t too bad, mostly just multiple-choice questions. I think all that practice I did online really helped. I passed the test, thankfully. Then they gave me a learner’s permit, which is like a temporary license that lets you drive with a licensed driver.
So now I’m in the learner’s permit stage, which means I have to practice driving with someone who has a license. I’ve been driving around with my buddy who’s a licensed driver. It’s kind of nerve-wracking, but I’m getting the hang of it. Hopefully, I can take the driving test soon and finally get my full license.
It’s been a long process, but I’m almost there. Just gotta keep practicing and hopefully, I’ll be cruising around with my own Northern Mariana Islands driver’s license soon!
