Alright, let’s talk about gettin’ yer hands on one of them North Korean passports, eh? Sounds like a whole heap of trouble if you ask me, but hey, who am I to judge? People got their reasons, I guess.
Now, from what I hear, there ain’t just one kind of passport they got over there. It’s like, they got the fancy ones for the big shots, the diplomat passport, you know, the fellas in suits who go talkin’ to other countries. Then there’s the official passport, maybe for the folks who work for the government but ain’t top dogs. And then there’s the regular one, the ordinary passport, for everyday folks, if they even let everyday folks outta there.
If you’re thinkin’ ’bout goin’ to North Korea, seems like you need a visa too. Don’t know why they gotta make it so complicated. Probably takes a good long while and costs a pretty penny, too. They always want their money, don’t they?

They say North Korea started makin’ these passports a long time ago, right after they became, well, North Korea. And the passports, they changed ’em a few times over the years. Guess they couldn’t make up their minds, huh?
- First thing you gotta do, they say, is get this North Korea Passport Application Form. Sounds official, doesn’t it? Probably got a bunch of questions on there you wouldn’t even understand.
- And then, seems like there’s only two kinds of passports they give out to their own folks. One’s called a “Worker’s International Travel Passport“. Sounds like if you ain’t workin’, you ain’t goin’ nowhere.
Now, if you wanna become a North Korean, that’s a whole ‘nother story. You gotta ask the big boss man, the Supreme Leader, they call him. He’s the one who decides who gets to be a North Korean and who don’t. And if you ain’t got no family there, good luck to ya.
They say the North Korean passport ain’t the best one to have, though. Ranked number 77 in the world, whatever that means. You can only go to 79 countries without needin’ another piece of paper, a visa they call it. Not much freedom there, I reckon.
But if you wanna go live in North Korea, that’s a different can of worms. You gotta have a skill they need, or have some company say they want you to work for ’em. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure.
And if you’re just lookin’ to visit, well, most folks can go, ‘cept if you’re from South Korea or one of them journalist fellas. They don’t like them South Koreans much, and them journalists, they ask too many questions, I figure.
So, there you have it. A little bit ’bout gettin’ a North Korean passport. Sounds like a real headache to me, but like I said, folks got their reasons. Just be careful, is all I’m sayin’. Don’t want you gettin’ into no trouble over there.
