First thing, they say you gotta find yourself an “embassy” or a “consulate”. Sounds like a big, important building, right? Well, you gotta go there or send them a letter. And it ain’t just any letter, mind you. It’s gotta have all the right stuff in it. Like where you’re gonna go and when, I imagine.
You gotta call em up, or maybe send one of them newfangled emails, and make an “appointment” or whatever they call it. Just to talk to them. Just like when I gotta go to the doctor, make an appointment. Gotta wait your turn.

- And they want to know you’re coming back home. Gotta show ’em you got a reason to come back, like a house or a family. Maybe some chickens, even.
- You will need money. Visa needs money.
- You gotta have proof you’re leaving Jamaica. They don’t want you staying forever, I suppose.

Now, they got this thing called the “internet”. They say you can do some of this stuff online. Fill out forms and such. I don’t know about all that. Seems like a lot of hocus pocus to me. But the young folks, they seem to understand it. They say it is easy to do it online. They can just click click click and done. You can buy Jamaica visa online, maybe. If you need help, ask them young people.
You can pay with them plastic cards, too. “Visa”, “MasterCard”, all them fancy names. Or you can use cash. Good old-fashioned money. But they don’t take just any money. They got rules about that, too. You need money to buy Jamaica visa. They check your money and cards.
But even if you do all that, they might still say no. They might say you can’t go. They got their reasons, I suppose. It ain’t easy, this whole visa thing. It is not easy to buy Jamaica visa. They check you, and then they decide if you can go or not.
